Space Opto-Mechatronics Test Engineer

Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium

Our mission is supported by an ambitious vertically integrated approach: design & manufacture of small satellites combined with development of earth observation services.

Since its creation in 2018, the company has already grown substantially. Our team gathers more than 25 engineering expertise, from hardware design to software development & data science.

In 2024, Aerospacelab counts offices in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Toulouse (France), Lausanne (Switzerland) and US West Coast with more than 200 full-time employees, with the ambition to position itself as the European leader in small satellites.

Role Overview

    • Execute R&D tasks from A to Z. You start from a research question, you investigate the theory, potentially accompanied by simulation. You design and use a test setup to verify the theory. You analyze the resulting data and compare the outcome with the theory.
    • You use the testing equipment available and adapt it to specific tests, especially in the context of space qualification (e.g. use of thermal vacuum chambers, thermal chambers or shakers).
    • This will also include a large design work for test equipment, assist in prototype development, operations etc
    • Extending the capabilities of our test facilities or building entirely new test setups is part of your job.
    • You provide input to the rest of the team from a testing perspective and feed their input back

  • Interest in optical systems
  • Experience with thermal and vacuum, or vibration tests is beneficial
  • Experience in space-oriented AITV process

Must have

  • MSc in University Degree in electromechanical engineering (preferred), electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
